MAKE HEARTS OF HOPE AND HELP CHILDREN WITH CANCER

Every year more than 350 children in Serbia are diagnosed with malignant diseases. Their treatment lasts for years and is accompanied with isolation from normal life, and severe, terrifying, painful and frustrating situations. Although the conditions for the treatment of children suffering from cancer in recent years is significantly improved, they still are not adequate and satisfactory. Every child, especially those suffering from cancer, must have the best possible treatment and care, as well as psycho-social support for the whole family to more easily overcome long, painful and exhausting treatment. We invite you to join the humanitarian campaign HEARTS OF HOPE and on that way support and help the work of the National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer NURDOR.
WHAT ARE THE HEARTS OF HOPE
Hearts of hope are, in fact, brooches made of FIMO polymer clay in the shape of a heart and with golden ribbon (a symbol of the fight against children's cancer) on it. We intend to create and collect a lot of Hearts of hope that will be sold at the Donors exhibition, and all funds raised will be donated to NURDOR.
WHO IS NURDOR
NURDOR is The National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer (in Serbian - Nacionalno Udruženje Roditelja Dece Obolele od Raka), a nonprofit organization founded in Belgrade in 2003. Since then, they every day care about children with cancer and support their families in Serbia. Their members are parents and friends of children treated for cancer united in the mission of improving the quality of life and treatment of sick children and their families. They strive to inform and empower parents and children, and also to provide information about cancer to all people who want to help.
NURDOR is, through previous efforts, managed to open five parental houses in towns where there are pediatric oncology clinics: three in Belgrade and one in Novi Sad and Niš. Among the completed projects are the reconstruction of bathrooms in the Niš Clinic, procurement of modern equipment for the Cancer departments, organization of expert meetings, seminars and training of medical staff from all five clinics in Serbia, providing psycho-social support to children and young people suffering from malignant diseases and their families, organization of camps for rehabilitation, development and distribution of educational brochures... The project on which realization NURDOR is currently engaged is the construction of a new pediatric department of hematology and oncology in Niš.
ABOUT CHILDREN'S CANCER
Every day, one child in Serbia are diagnosed with cancer. Every week, one child in Serbia die of cancer. More than 500 children in Serbia are treated for cancer during the year. Cancer is the leading cause of mortality in children's age, when it comes to diseases. The cure rate in Serbia is approximately 70%. Children are treated in five centers in Serbia - three clinics in Belgrade and one in Novi Sad and Niš. Malignant disease that children is Serbia most often suffer is acute leukemia, where the cure rate is the largest, and where therapy lasts 105 weeks.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN CAMPAIGN HEARTS OF HOPE
Absolutely everyone! Hobbyists, creative people, artists, enthusiasts from Serbia, neighboring and countries from all over the world... You all are welcome to create FIMO polymer clay Hearts of hope in order to jointly help NURDOR in its mission of improving the quality of life and treatment of children with cancer in Serbia.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN CAMPAIGN HEARTS OF HOPE
Very easy and simple! From FIMO polymer clay make a heart-shaped brooch with golden ribbon (symbol for childhood cancer). Make hearts on your own, with your family and friends, or with your guild... Make one heart brooch or more. Make as many as you want! The more pieces you all send  the more money we'll raise for our friends in NURDOR and help them in their projects, primarily in the construction of a new pediatric department of hematology and oncology in Niš.
GUIDELINES FOR CREATING HEARTS OF HOPE
There are only three rules for creating Hearts of hope:
1. From FIMO polymer clay make a brooch
2. Brooch must be in the form of heart
3. In the design of heart-shaped brooch it must be incorporated golden ribbon, a
symbol of the fight against children's cancer
Size of brooches, shape of hearts, colors, textures, patterns and other materials that you'll use in design are limited just by your imagination and creativity. You have total artistic freedom to create Hearts of hope as you want, but do not forget these three basic guidelines - brooch made of FIMO polymer clay in the shape of a heart with a golden ribbon on it.
